Marriage and the family are gifts from God. They were given by God. It was and is God who started the family. The family is God’s plan and His design. It is His desire for human beings. No matter what is happening to the human family, the high rate of divorce and unfaithfulness, God still believes in marriage and has a powerful and wonderful plan for the family. God has not given up on the family. It is simply the entry of sin into the human picture that has messed up with family life as God designed it to be. And since God has the answer to sin He thus also has the answer to marriage and family problems. It was God who said ‘it is not good for man to be alone, I will make him a helpmate’ (Genesis 2:18) and it seems He hasn’t changed His mind yet. Since the family is God’s plan, it should not come as a surprise then that the family as an institution, is coming under a heavy satanic attack and heavy demonic onslaught. Through international and national laws, through customs and traditions, culture and educational systems, satan as an enemy of all that which is in the plans of God, is making a heavy onslaught on the foundational fabric of the family. Nations and churches are only as strong as the strength of the families that make them.
Every week, in this column, Biblical family life principles will be presented and clearly explained. We sincerely believe that you will put them to use to build your family into a strong loving, joy-filled and peaceful family. Jesus said it is only in the doing of His sayings that one is able to build on a strong foundation that is able to withstand the storms and pressures of life (Matthew 7:24). We also believe you will use these principles in counseling and giving advice to those who may need family counseling and guidance from you. Our approach will be to examine in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation on what it has to say about family life and practically apply its wisdom and see it transform families to begin functioning as God designed them to.
